BIO

Cristina discovered her love for the stage at a young age.

(Her role of the owl in her second grade play was nothing short of mesmerizing.) She was soon encouraged by teachers to pursue her voice and acting ability, but her newly emigrated Italian parents couldn’t afford lessons for her. So Cristina was largely self-taught until age 13, when she paid for her own voice lessons with the Royal Conservatory of Music, under the direction of Helen Simmie. Though she established a foundation in classical, Cristina pursued the world of pop music. After a career in songwriting and two CDs later, Cristina’s love for the stage led her back to her dream of opera and musical theatre.

With a sparkling stage presence, soprano Cristina Paoletta has thrilled audiences in her native Toronto. She is noted for her dramatic stage presence and challenging repertoire, including Puccini, Verdi, Mozart, Handel, Bach, Menotti, Donizetti, Bernstein, Gilbert and Sullivan, Rodgers and Hart, Weill, and many more.

Her ability to cross over from opera to musical theatre illustrates her versatility as an artist.

Under the tutelage of several coaches — most notably Inna Golsband and renowned Italian tenor, Ermanno Mauro — her voice soars. She is fluent in Italian, and proficient in French and Spanish.

Cristina is also a licenced teacher and Ontario Music educator.

No stranger to the stage, Cristina has performed the national anthem for the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Argonauts, and Toronto Raptors. She’s also performed in community theatre and on the MS SunDream cruise ship. Cristina Paoletta is poised to make her mark on the international music scene.
